Brief Synopsis:

Norazura Ahmad is a lecturer in School of Quantitative Sciences, Universiti Utara Malaysia. She enrolled her tertiary education at Universiti Putra Malaysia and graduated with BSc (Hons) in Statistics. She then completed her MSc in Decision Science from Universiti Utara Malaysia. In 2014, she completed her PhD in Operations Research from Universiti Sains Malaysia. Her research interests are computer simulation modeling and process modeling, particularly in healthcare systems. She is also a professional member of the System Dynamics Society. In teaching, she has taught several courses for undergraduate and Master level. Among the subjects taught are Decision Analysis (MBA), Advanced Operational Research (Master of Decision Science), Decision Modeling, Decision-Making Techniques and Elementary Statistics. Being an educator, she loves to teach the students on how to make a better decision using quantitative approaches.

Brief Synopsis: 

I am an Associate Professor of Operational Research at the Department of Decision Sciences, School of Quantitative Sciences (SQS). I earned my B.Eng degree in Mechanical Engineering from Universiti Malaya, Kuala Lumpur in 1996. Then I worked as an engineer in industry for more than 5 years. I am also a Graduate Member of Board of Engineers, Malaysia (BEM) since 1997. In 2001, I joined UUM as a tutor and obtained my MSc from Universiti Utara Malaysia in 2003 and finally Ph.D from University of Bradford, UK in 2009. My research interests include decision analysis, operational research, discrete-event simulation, system dynamics modeling, queuing analysis, lean manufacturing, sustainable manufacturing, and knowledge-based systems. My contribution to my research field is evidenced by research grants and publications. I have led and completed one FRGS grant in green manufacturing system and one faculty grant in manufacturing simulation. I have also received two postgraduate incentive grants to assist my PhD students to complete their studies. I am also involved as a member in other eight grants including external grant from USM in the area of queuing and simulation analysis. To date, I have authored or co-authored more than 20 publications on decision sciences specializing mainly in simulation, knowledge-based system, and sustainable manufacturing in national and international journals and conference proceedings/seminars. Eight of the publications, four in journals and four in conference proceedings are indexed in ISI/Scopus. I am now supervising 3 PhD students as main supervisor and one Doctor of Management (D.Mgmt) student as co-supervisor. I have also successfully supervised 1 MSc as main supervisor and 1 MS student as co-supervisor.

Brief synopsis:

Nor Idayu Mahat is a senior lecturer in the School of Quantitative Sciences with major interests in pattern recognition problems especially dealing with Big Data and multi variables. At present, she is attached as a Deputy Director at Centre of Testing, Measurements and Appraisal (CeTMA), Universiti Utara Malaysia. She obtained her bachelor degree and Master degree from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Malaysia, in Statistics. Later, completed her PhD from University of Exeter, United Kingdom. She practices her quantitative discipline in various areas including engineering, medicine, business and management as well as sociology incorporating with researchers from different field of studies.

Brief synopsis:

Ruzelan Khalid is a senior lecturer in Decision Science at Universiti Utara Malaysia, Malaysia. Prior to joining Universiti Utara Malaysia, he was an associate researcher at National CAD/CAM Center, SIRIM Sdn. Bhd. under the project of “Project Management System (IPM) For Design and Construction”.  He holds an MSc in Decision Science from Universiti Utara Malaysia and obtained his Ph.D. in Computer Science from University of Canterbury, New Zealand.  He has published journal articles in Discrete Event Simulation System (Springer), Journal of Advanced Transportation (John Wiley and Sons), Journal of Intelligent and Fuzzy Systems (IOS Press), etc.  He has worked in several projects including how to optimize pedestrian flow in a complex topological network using analytical and simulation approaches.  His areas of research interests include Discrete Event Simulation, Queuing Networks, Stochastic Processes and Optimization.
